Well, I'm sorry, hypothetical Teixeira, because after tonight's game, with your diving stop early and two homers accounting for 5 of the 6 Yankee runs, and one of them to tie the game at 5, Thumper still applies quite nicely. Even though I was convinced neither home run was going out - I swear, there's something about left field shots that make me beyond skeptical from my vantage point. But I'm glad I was wrong. Very glad. Especially after the Angels went ahead on that freaking monster of a homer by Trumbo - that thing served to temporarily suck the life out of the place. Though, I will say, when some douche started trying to make The Wave happen in our section, there were several "BOOOOs," and it wasn't just me! And it quickly died, so YEAH, not in MY section, beyotches.
Thumpin'. Oh, s***, I just remembered the scoreboard people played "Tub Thumping" at some point. There really was something in the air tonight...
Then! Then! The Swisher catch happened. And while we didn't summon that, we may have summoned Russell Martin's much-needed big hit, as Steph, Jen's husband(!) Andrew and I were discussing what big-name catchers could be on the market soon, seeing as how Martin's been struggling of late. But after his go-ahead-RBI-making hit tonight and sweet play to end the game, I can forgive. I'd even post a video of him walking on his hands in celebration, a la Yankees on Deck, but there are none on YouTube. Alas again.
But I do have this pic I took tonight, which is kinda nice, so here it is.
Also, I could not violently untuck my shirt a la Rafael Soriano after the game, as my shirt was already untucked. I'll have to plan more carefully next time.
What do you have to say to that, hypothetical Teixeira?
