I didn't really get to take that many photos because I'm battling a really bad cough/sinus-y thing and it was raining intermittently when I was out yesterday morning, but this captures some of the damage in Jersey City.
No idea where this guy came from. I came upon it outside the mall and across from a Bed, Bath & Beyond.
This is Washington Blvd. in Newport. Complete with driftwood. Oddly enough, this is outside the building where Ken and I helped put out that little fire a few years ago.
The Hudson, back in place, leaving its mess for the rest of us to clean up.
Don't know if water or wind or some combination of both took this down, but there it is.
This is my route to the ferry. The river is about four blocks behind me. At it's peak, it went about four blocks ahead of me.
Hoboken seems to have taken a MUCH worse hit. Like, the river came in here, but it seemed to hit mostly newer buildings that could sustain it and the water was all mostly drained out by the next morning. Hoboken? Not so much. It always floods there, even in the rain, but it goes away pretty quick. This is a whole other animal entirely. There's fuel in the (not moving) water now. There were like 20,000 people trapped inside their homes. The National Guard was called in. Absolutely unprecedented. You can't really get in there unless you live there, or else I'd try to get some pics of it.
